Once upon a time, a man and a woman were expecting their baby. When the woman became very ill, the man went out and looked for a herb to cure her. The herb could not be found anywhere, except in the garden of a wicked witch who lived around the corner. Secretly, the man sneaked into the garden and picked it. ‘How dare you steal my herbs!?’ the witch, who had seen what happened, shouted. The man was so scared he dropped the little plant and begged: ‘Ask of me anything you wish, I need this herb to cure my sick and pregnant wife.’ The witch grinned and said: ‘I will let you go, in exchange for your baby.’ The man demurred, but he had no choice as his wife needed to be cured.
