Hi JLA,

I believe you're referring to this part:


Rnd 14: (sc in next 12 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [84]
Mark the 3rd stitch on round 14 with a stitch marker.
This will show where to start the second half of the
neck later.
Rnd 15: sc in next st, skip next 30 st, sc in 32nd st,
sc in next 52 st [54]
We now have a new, smaller round we will work
around.
Rnd 16: (sc in next 8 st, inc in next st) repeat 6 times [60]

 

You work 1 sc, then you skip 30 stitches, which you don't crochet on, but keep your yarn on your hook. You then insert your hook in the next stitch and sc in the remaining 52 st.

You now have your circle split into two circles.

In picture 7 you see the result at the end of the body part. In the picture below i'll mark the round that you're working (the dotted line of course is the back side).

Seeing your picture, i think you fastened off, skipped stitches and then joined yarn again.
