Crab Stitching

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to add the crab stitches. Having to start without it being connected to the original piece as well as being a left handed crocheter, I can't figure out how to do it properly. Anyone out there who can help?

Hi Autumnaguon1,

To start crocheting in a random stitch, you pull up a loop, then work a chain stitch. Your yarn is now connected.
I assume, as a left-handed crocheter, you work mirror-wise. The crab stitch would simply be mirrored as well, so you work in the opposite direction of how a normal stitch would be crocheted.
If you feel uncomfortable working crab stitches, you can also work an embellishment of sc or slst stitches in the normal direction.

I hope this helps!
