Ears and Shoes.

So, I am working on this cute little kitty a second time, now that I got a basic idea on how how to make it.

I am coming across an odd problem that I didn't have with the first go around.

problem 1: The ears came out larger in the first one I made but they were consistent. With this one they are smaller and neither match. One looks more like a bear ear and the other looks more like a cat ear.
I have no idea why. What might I be doing that is making it look like a bear ear? Am I maybe not getting the magic ring tight enough?

Second problem) My first cats slippers. No matter what I tried they never came out looking like slippers. They came out much higher up on the feet. So, I put a band on them to make it look like that is just how they were ment to be.
I haven't gotten to the shoes on the current one I am working on. But I would like them to come out as slippers this time. Any suggestions on where I might have gone wrong and how to correct it, I would appreciate it.

I have 2 guess as to why the shoes are not coming out.
One, is the feet themselves are not fat enough and thus it is actually the legs.
Two, is that I am not understanding the pattern and adding the inc sc in the wrong spot. (Forgive me if that is not correct term I don't have the book with in reach to check.)

Going through the photos I noticed that I am not the only one that seemed to have problems with these two areas. No, I am not putting anyones work down. I know this has more to do with skill level. As well as learning how to understanding a patterns terms in a book.

Problem 1: Very difficult to say without a sample image, but yes, probably your first round isn't tight enough, which makes the ear less pointy.
Problem 2: might be you're working a bit loosely or your yarn weight is slightly thicker than the weight of the yarn you used for the feet? You can either use a smaller hook (which makes your stitches more tight) or you could end the slippers one round early, so they're not that high.

I hope this helps!
